Dr. Romena Toki

Dr. Romena Toki is a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire and over ten years of experience in mental health practice across the UK and UAE. She also holds an MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience and a BSc in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London. Dr. Toki is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK and licensed to practise in Abu Dhabi through the Department of Health (DOH). She has worked extensively across NHS and voluntary sector services in London, holding senior and specialist roles. Her experience spans work with children, families, and adults presenting with complex psychological and emotional difficulties. Dr. Toki has led service development initiatives, delivered specialist training, and supervised clinical staff, with a strong focus on accessibility and culturally responsive care. Dr. Toki works with individuals experiencing low mood, anxiety, long-term health conditions, grief, trauma, and neurodevelopmental difficulties such as autism and ADHD. She specialises in women’s mental health and has a particular interest in the perinatal experience. She integrates evidence-based, narrative, and systemic approaches to provide person-centred care, and is additionally trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Dr. Toki brings a culturally informed perspective to her work and draws on her background as a Muslim psychologist to provide faith-sensitive, inclusive care that respects the diverse values of her clients. Her research and publications explore identity, resilience, and women’s narratives, reflecting her commitment to promoting wellbeing through inclusive and culturally sensitive practice.
